Chandigarh designed to house an working population of about 80,000 peopole has grown well beyond the limit. Now it is an hub attracting people fron all over. Satallite cities of Panchkul and Mohali merge into Chandigard as a part of its own.
Question
Can we ever plan a city for a Size of Population and create restrictions and barriers around it???

It is a problme that every city has encountered and the answer is that we would like to restrict but we can not. So the challege is to manage that growth. The postwar period has seen the establishment of many 'new towns', all of which are strugling with both expansion, real estate pressures and changing economic and social pressures. Modern(ist) plannning is something that we are just beginning to address as a preservation challenge.
