Pittsburgh Moderns is the beginnings of what we hope to be DOCO Pittsburgh! In November over 50 people met at actor David Conrad's loft to learn about the campaign to recycle the igloo and raised over $3,000 to support Preservation Pittsburgh/PA!
Thanks for update and that's great news about your successful tour. Thanks for participating in the national tour day.
Here in North Texas we, unfortunately, had access to our tour location cancelled two days before the event, so ended up with nothing on tour day. We are re-scheduling the tour, but it was annoying nonetheless.
Let me know what we can do to help move the Western PA chapter along. Sounds like things are ripe for DOCOMOMO!
I serve on the Board and as the Chapter Relations chair for DOCOMOMO US. I'm here to help new DOCOMOMO chapters form. Please feel free to call me at 214 534 1535 (cell) or at my email (rmeckfessel@dsgn.com) and I can walk you thru the process. It's pretty straightforward.
Bob:
To establish a DOCOMOMO chapter the best person to contact is Robert Meckfessel at rmeckfessel@dsgnassociates.com and his phone is 214 534 1535. He is the board member responsible for the chapters. He is also listed on the social network here. He knows that you will be contacting him.
One of things will be the name of the chapter. My suggestion would be DOCOMOMO-US/WesternPennsylvania. Western Pennsylvania can be abbreviated to WPA or WEPA, which is what other chapters have done.
Good luck and a preliminary welcome.

Rob --
Good to hear from you! I enjoyed working with your office on the University of Pittsburgh project, and it's nice to be back in touch. Two years ago, I accepted a postion with the University of Texas School of Architecture and moved to Austin. I teach in the Historic Preservation Program -- and we're working on a Campus Heritage grant project at UT. Working with you on the University of PIttsburgh project provided good background for our UT project!
Hope you have had lots more interesting projects. Let's plan to stay in touch. Best wishes for a very happy new year! Fran
