Its really interesting that in the late 1940s Warner Brothers' sets would be overscaled in their design. The Fountainhead is a prime example but if you look at Dark Passage 1947 Lauren Bacall's apartment is quite modern and the building that they used actually does exist its a wonderful art deco building. Other films with overscaled modern sets are:
1. Deception 1946
2. Mildred Pierce 1945
3. Christmas In Connecticut 1945
4. The Unfaithful 1947
5. The Damned Don't Cry 1950
6. The Unsuspected 1947
Check them out and see what I mean.
